do you tip fishing guides ?
Posted on Aug 15, 2009 under Fishing Guides | 5 Commentsalready paid for 1/2 day guided musky trip, do you tip the guide after your fishing trip ?
Yes !!
How much depends on you. Did you have fun? Did you catch anything? Did you learn anything?
Take all that into account. You then decide 10-15% is the norm.
Catching fish should not have anything to do with how much you tip, they can not guarantee that, just like big game guides can not guarantee getting a deer, elk, etc.

I think it is up to you.
Sometimes my husband will get them a bottle of Glenfiddich or Chivas Regal. Sometimes he’ll get them a hooker or tickets to a ball game.
Ultimatley, it’s up to you. They have already been paid your agreed price. How was the service?

If they are polite, know what they are doing and put you on fish and you’re satisfiyed the absolutely. Some guides don’t drink or appreciate hookers so unless you know your guide a cash tip is always acceptable.

As a pro guide/Capt. on a charter boat, the answer is "Yes". The average is 10-15% but can go up or down depending on how much you enjoyed the trip. Catching fish is a bonus as there are no guarantees with anything on the water. If the guide/Capt/Mate worked hard for you and you had fun then tip accordingly.
