Does anyone know of any good fishing spots in Corpus Christi area?

I can’t afford to pay for a fishing guide and I want my two sons to have a good time after we visit the aquarium.

I use to surf fish down in the Corpus area from time to time. All along the South Texas coast is great for surf fishing. I don’t suggest surf fishing for real young children, but I started fishing the surf at about 10yrs old. You can catch a variety of different fish between the second and third sandbars using live of fresh dead shrimp. There use to be several jetty areas to choose from in Corpus that I’m sure lots of fisherman still fish off of. I don’t like fishing the jetties because of all the hang ups robbing all of my tackle from me. If you decide to use the surf be aware of the undertows, especially when the tide is running. Fishing during low ebb or high flood will be less current to fish in. Carry a couple of different sized weights to keep the bait down as the current gets stronger. If the waves are laying down for ya, you can use a popping cork fishing about 2ft down with a shrimp on the hook. I have always caught trout in the surf this way as well. 40yr exp.

Go to the Packery Channel, just watch out for the parking police, they will give you a ticket if you don’t have a parking slip that you can buy right there at the jetty. Also try fishing along the Aransas Channel, where the shrimp boats go from Aransas Pass out to the Intercoastal Waterway, and then to the gulf. I’ve done well in both places.
