@smcdonald86 Yeah, I know what you mean brother, every time I go fishing with my “film crew” (i.e. my fishing buddies) I’ll get a complaint within the first minute about them wanting to fish so we never get the strikes on video! Keep up the good work, will look forward to your future updates!

@BangkokhookerFishing
Hey bro thanks a bunch! I am glad that someone appreciates those topwater shots!!! YES they are very difficult to get because someone has to film and NOT fish the whole time….that’s hard for most of us fishermen to do…:-)

I’ve been trying to capture some topwater strikes with snakeheads myself and I know just how damn hard it is to have someone hold the camera long enough until a strike can happen. You guys did a great job with this video man. Keep up the good work!

Dont know what you are looking at on their site? Click “regulations” and then “release”….It is NOT illegal to release a peacock bass into our waters as it is classified as a game fish here in Florida hence the bag limits… however it IS illegal to transport them alive from one body of water to another…even though it gets done all the time. For ANY other non-native fish such as the snakeheads, tilapias, plecos, pacus etc…it IS illegal to release any of them without a permit.

u have to kill them btw how many type ofsnake heads are in florida
October 22nd, 2011 at 5:03 am
snakeheads taste great if steamed with smashed ginger with some spring onion as garnishing…
October 22nd, 2011 at 5:55 am
@smcdonald86 It never said ‘release’. Peacock bass are an exotic fish too, and if they encourage u to kill, why is there a size and bag limit for them?
October 22nd, 2011 at 6:19 am
@Lilsaintaz
It is illegal to possess or to release any exotic fish into Florida state waters. It is considered a 2nd degree misdemeanor offense. You can check it out on the FWC website…

@smcdonald86 I kno. but its not illegal to throw them back, as you are not ‘possessing’ a live snakehead
October 22nd, 2011 at 6:37 am
@Lilsaintaz
It is illegal to be in possession of a live snakehead here in Florida. I believe they can take you to jail. At minimum it is a hefty fine if you are caught with live ones…

@HRGiger88 I dont think its illegal to throw them back now. Its highly recommended that u eat them or smth.

Cool man, can you tell me any fishin spots near the hollywood area? Appreciate it.
October 22nd, 2011 at 8:33 am
@HRGiger88
Yes sir gotta kill them…however we give them away to people that eat them so they are put to some good use after all.
October 22nd, 2011 at 9:24 am
Does the law still require you to kill them? I think at one point here in Tampa it was illegal to throw them back.

Hey bud great to hear from you. I would 100% for sure go to braided line. Probably 20 or 30 pound on the spinning reel is enough. I’d lean towards 30 for the snakeheads. You need that no stretch quality for setting the hook on long casts in their bony mouth. That should help your hookup ratios.

@smcdonald86 Thanks for the reply Steve. I ran into you and your friends outside my development in Coconut Creek, the day you caught that pig bass on a frog. I’ve been using a m/h spinner with a Shimano Symetre & 10lb P-Line for throwing frogs for snakeheads. I’ve had too many misses so I was thinking of using my 6ft 6in Quantum Tour m/h action with a 6.2 speed Quantum Accurist & 15 pound P-Line. Do you think that set is is fine? Also, do you think I should use braid instead? Thanks, Scott

@ridgehand
That is a 7 foot 2 inch heavy action Kistler rod with a High Speed 7: 1 – 1 Bass Pro Shops Tournament Reel

You said you were using 40lb braid, but what setup are you using: rod weight & length and reel? Thanks.
