How to care for a clam brought home from a fishing trip?

Posted on Oct 02, 2009 under Fishing Trips | 4 Comments

Husband brought home a good size clam from his fishing trip he caught on his pole. Have it in a aquarium right now. Does anyone know how to care for it properly or where I can find info. I have been searching on here but haven’t come across the right info.
Thanks.

I have kept fresh water calms alive for years in cool water aquariums. if the aquarium is planted, has live fish in it and has a good biological balance, the clams do well.

Put two inches of water in the bottom of a saucepan. Place clam in steam basket inside of pan. Boil, covered, until clam shell opens. Dip in melted butter and enjoy.
