When would be the best time to take a fishing trip to colorado?
Posted on Oct 26, 2009 under Fishing Trips | 3 CommentsMy family wants to take a trip to colorado for trout and a salmon run after school lets out. June 20 something. Thanks fly fishing for some good fihs?
You’ll be good after June 20th and through July and August before school starts in Colorado. Breckenridge is a good place to look into staying as it is a good jumping off point to the Blue River, the Colorado River, and others. If you’re looking into guided trips, there are lots of good shops in town that can get you set up with all your gear and guide. Plus, Breckenridge has all the town amenities you’ll need to make a vacation out of it (shopping, dining, lodging, off-season mountain activity).

Anytime during the mid to late summer is good for fly fishing. My uncle and I used to go to the North and South Platt Rivers, which are located in the high plains near Buena Vista, Colorado. The nearest town to this area is called Antero Junction if you want to look it up on the map. This is about 1 and 1/2 hours from Breckenridge, CO if you are looking for a resort area to stay. As mentioned above, the Blue River in Summit County is also good for fishing, but not as rustic. Have a great time, it’s impossible not to!
