I Want To Make My Own Chum For Saltwater Fishing?
Posted on Sep 05, 2009 under Saltwater Fishing | 3 CommentsI Will Go Saltwater Fishing Off The Jetties (Rocks) & Want To Make My Own Chum. I Will Be Mostly Fishing For Redfish. What Should Be Included In My Chum? Any Ideas?
MacA’s answer is a good one, for the oil I’d reccommend glory hole menhaden/pogy fish oil. Think I got mine at bass pro. Here’s another idea that works and not too expensive. Buy some cheap pasta, tiny stars or elbos. After cooked, keep it in a large coffee can or zip lock and coat it with the fish oil. Scatter in area where you are fishing. The fish are drawn by the scent and will find your bait. If you have yellowtail snapper where you are, do same thing but use dry quaker oats and make a slop with water mixing in some of the oil. The tails will come guaranteed. Tight lines to you.

Canned Mackerel, oil, and bread to give your chum substance. If you have the extra money, chopped up clams work well. Same the juice and pour it onto the bread.

Gofish & Mac are "right on" with their answer’s.
Pogey oil, DRY "fish flavored" catfood, Fish meal, old diced bread, fresh clams, Etc, MIXED with any corn-meal based cereal will work, (or as Gofish said, Pasta).
Great answer’s guys.
