What do you get? You get to go fishing without breaking the law for a whole year (standard license.)
The fishing regulation booklets are free. It basically explains bag limits, size limits, what’s off limits and when. You can pick these up at places like Academy or Walmart. ~Good luck catchin’

When you go and buy your licence, you will need to make sure that you bring some sort of identification with you such as driver’s licence, identification card, or birth certificate, to confirm that you are who you say you are, and also that you’re in the age group that needs the licence, as well as to determine if you’re in any special group like people with disabilities, first nations etc. You will also be asked about salmon or other fish species. They will issue you a stamp or some sort of thing for salmon or other species special to that area.
You will also need to make sure that you follow the regulations and that you’re able to produce the licence should fisheries, or the conservation officers ask you for it.

What do you get when you buy a fishing license besides being able to legally enjoy the sport? Hmm… both fresh- and saltwater fishing licenses pay for the fish that are stocked in your lakes, habitat improvements, game wardens that look out for poachers and those wanting to fish without licenses, fights against invasive species, and all kinds of other shenanigans.
You can pick up a regulations booklet for FREE wherever licenses are sold. Wal-Mart would be the first place to check.
